What Does The Bible Say About How The World Works?

Looking around, do you think that the world is driven by a desire to do good? There is a little verse in the Bible, 

The lust of the flesh - physical desires taken to excess - gluttony, pornography, drug abuse and so on. The lust of the eyes - need for possessions taken to excess - the acquisition of more and more (does this ever satisfy) and, often, this leading to the denying of these to others. The pride of life - like the others, there can be an acceptable pride but this is a pride that leads to arrogance, self-importance and lording over others. You can see how these lead to wars, oppression and bigotry. The Bible says that this is what the world is like and what drives it.
