What are the false expectations of being a Christian?
A lot of people who come across Christianity and even become adherents (but not, necessarily, Christians!) are looking for the miracles and what they can get. They want God to be like a fairy-godmother, answering their wishes. Many preachers preach a prosperity message - be a Christian and get rich which is specifically condemned by Jesus.
… and the preachers:
We go through life alongside other people, sharing everyday experiences with them. If we are Christians, our faith should shape the way we live—and that difference should be clearly seen in our actions and attitudes.. The same triumphs and disasters. The same everyday mundane activity. How you live through that as a Christian is what it is all about.
So does this mean that Christians do not experience miracles any more? You may hear stories of miracles but most are left untold. For the reasons above, Christianity must not be seen as way to get what you want. People will want to become Christians to get the miracles but, even though a miracle is involved, nobody comes to be a Christian like this.
